The sharp minds at Google labs have
created many innovative applications. One of their very best an
image viewer, organizer, and editor for
your PC is called Picasa. Google is
known for releasing intuitive, avant-garde programs for the masses,
all at a great price! Google's Picasa
is no exception.
Not only is this photo software without charge, but it's one of
the very best applications you'll find for download!

Picasa allows you to view, organize, and quickly find
all your
precious photos you may have haphazardly strewn about your
computer's hard drive. Do you need to make a quick photo touch
up? Google Picasa has got you covered. Want a fast
and easy
way to share your photos with loved ones? Google Picasa makes
sharing your pictures a snap.
Once you've got Picasa installed and running for the very first
time, Picasa will ask you if you want it to scan your
entire PC
or just your personal folders, looking for multimedia content. Picasa must run through this process to organize and
view your
photo content for faster access. This process in no way
removes or moves any of your files on your hard drive; it's
just Picasa's way of speeding up some of the
procedures it must
do to make your viewing experience more stream-lined and
pleasant.
Once Picasa runs through its picture scanning process, it'll select
all of your image content into convenient folders on the side of
the application. Selecting each folder will display a thumbnail
view of each of the folder's images. Double tapping on a thumb nail
will bring the image into a full-sized view. When in the full view
mode, you'll see various tools at the bottom of the image.
The slider bar will zoom in or out of the image. The thumbnail
bar at the top of the image enables you to go backwards or forwards
within the picture list.
If you need powerful image altering functions, Adobe's Photoshop
still reigns supreme, but for fixing red-eye in family photos and
basic image cropping, Google'sPicasa does just fine. These
image editing tools can be found on the right side of an image when
you double tap on its thumbnail. You'll see a palette with three
tabs: 'Basic Fixes', 'Tuning', and 'Effects'.
Picasa provides an array of impressive image alteration tools,
all of which are very intuitive and easy to use.
Picasa's slide show feature is nice when you want to
scroll
through a folder of pictures. This can be helpful for
displaying pictures of holiday gatherings and family events to
loved ones. Here's how to set up your slideshow:
1. Tap on one of your folders and then select the 'Slideshow'
button at the top of Picasa.
2. Once you are inside of the slideshow, tap on the 'Play'
button; Picasa will automatically scroll through each
image.
Moving your mouse around when in Slideshow mode will make an
options bar appear at the button of the current image.
This
options bar will allow you to change the slideshow speed (in
seconds) along with other options such as image rotation. You
can also scroll through the slideshow manually via the
'forward' and 'backward' buttons located on the options bar.
Not only can Picasa display your image content, but
it'll also
play your movie files. If you have any video content, Picasa has no trouble playing them in a specialized window. This
extra feature makes Picasa a powerful application
capable of
handling images as well as most video content found on the
web.
On the house software is everybody's favorite kind of software. Picasa not only offers powerful image viewing,
organizing, and
editing functions, but comes with a price tag that's music to
your wallet's ears!
